Joyce Pence was instrumental in the creation of SACG. She passed away in December of 2011 and her family created a memorial fund which evolved to help create the Shellsburg Memorial Park. Her husband, Dan Pence, donated a bench in her memory and community volunteers installed it in June of 2013.
