PRAIRIE FOREST TRAIL ENTRANCE
July, 2014
SACG obtained a Keep Iowa Beautiful grant of $4,950 to create an entrance to the Shellsburg Prairie Forest Trail. Materials needed for the trail were obtained using this grant money and an additional $1,800 from SACG. Community volunteers have worked in cooperation with the Vinton Shellsburg School district and Shellsburg city officials to create an entrance at the north end of Pearl Street. This project gives the community better access to the existing trail through the woods and a 17 acre restored prairie east of the elementary school.
