MEMORIAL PARK DISC GOLF COURSE
June - July, 2023
As part of SACG's overall plan for the city parks, which was initialized at the request of the city, adding a disc golf course was identified as a popular enhancement to the under utilized Memorial Park. SACG worked with Steve Hepker and the Wildcat Bluff Disc Golf Volunteers to lay out and install a 6-hole, family friendly course. This is the group that is responsible for the world-class course at Wildcat Bluff County Park south of Urbana. We are very appreciative of the time and expertise they donated. The Memorial Park course is a par-3 course, meant to be enjoyed by all age groups.
SACG wrote and received a grant from the Iowa Foundation for Parks and Recreation, for initial funding of the materials, primarily the baskets. SACG funded the remainder of the cost as well as contribute a significant number of volunteer hours to accomplish the project. Many thanks to Rocky Lubbock for auguring the holes for the baskets, and to KJ's Landscaping for setting the pavers in place for the tee pads. We anticipate adding holes as space becomes available.
